The Lifestyle of Sharing our Faith

1 Peter 4:8 to 11

Ministry is far more than a profession or a job. It is a way of life for all Christians. We are all ministers with the common goal of living the life Jesus has called us to. Jesus has given us the example to follow and the empowerment through the Holy Spirit. This lifestyle will bring honor and glory to God and bring truth to others, about who Jesus is. Our abilities are helpful in ministry; abilities based on knowledge, skills, experience, gifts.

So too are our weaknesses helpful in ministry.

2 Corinthians 12:9

If we are available and willing, God will take our strengths and our weaknesses and enable us to do ministry.

Question: Can sharing our faith and doing ministry become as natural as breathing.

Jesus gives us power and instructions on how to live a lifestyle of sharing. Luke 10:5 – 9

Luke 10:5-6 Giving Peace

Start with a blessing – give a kind word.

In whatever conversation, start with an honest affirming statement. A blessing, a word of encouragement.

Application: How can we “start with a blessing” at work, at home, at play, or with friends?

Henry James: “Three things in life are important. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. And the third is to be kind.”

People need understanding; they need encouragement; they need love.

Luke 10:7 Invest time to build a relationship.

Jesus was teaching an important principle. Today this principle is called the “Leadership Presence Principle”. It is how we build relationships. Family, friends, work, sports. We build relationships by showing up.

John 1:14 God wanted to tell us he loves us so, he came.

Being real with others: How can we cultivate being real with others?

“Cultivate the courage to be imperfect”. Remember, God uses our strengths and our weaknesses.

Being real, authentic - puts people ease. I am a Christian but I am not perfect. Only Jesus is perfect. I am not perfect and I, like you, need Jesus.
