Happy Day of the Child!
Today is the Day of the Child here in Mexico. There will be piñatas, candy, movies, pizza, and a lot of celebrating. At this moment there is a plethora of children in our lives and hearts. We praise God for the life He is giving us right now and for those he has chosen for us to serve.
A small update on our little brood of amazing kids!
We spent a week on the Ancla de Amor (Anchor of Love) children’s home property, literally camping out in tents (pictured above). It was a nice change, but we felt in limbo, our kids need stability and normalcy. Ancla has been amazing at receiving us, but it is an unusual situation for everyone so on Saturday we moved into a beautiful home that has been lent to us in the beautiful resort town of San Carlos, about 15 minutes from the Ancla ranch. God is so good!!!!
A few days ago, a local boat owner gave our kids a free 2 hour tour; a first for our kids. It was relaxing and fun (see below). We’re so thankful for the generous man who provided the beautiful boat and purchased pizza and pop for everyone. God moves hearts to kindness. It was a much-needed diversion, since our kids are still emotionally spent on all they have had to deal with. We are still walking through sporadic tears, a million questions and fears.
The good news is our mission (EFCCM) is working on new ways for you to support our work here with the kids. We depend on your prayers and financial help to provide for the everyday needs of the kids. At this point in time, you can give to our account #2-2472- to provide for the children here.
*Please pray for the funds needed to start the new home. There will be extra expenses in getting set up as there always are, plus the everyday monthly expenses of our home.
Moving On Peacefully
As the intense days of moving out and handing over the former home fall farther and farther into the past, we are thankful for God’s peace. Please pray for continued peace and for God’s mercy, blessings, and work in the lives of the Polanco family. We still desire the best for them and ultimately that God will restore them. Pray for their 4 children who we love dearly.
We have 2 possible houses to show the person who wants to invest in the kids and in the home they need. At this point, Jaime Garcia, a professional baseball pitcher and world series winner (Blue Jay fans may remember he played for a short time with them before a major injury), is wanting to help with this need. Jaime is from Mexico and has been very involved in our kids’ lives. Pray as we work through the details of communicating with him - he is a busy man involved in various ministries and travels a lot. He plans to visit us soon, but we are not sure of the date.
*Pray for God’s blessing on Jaime and his desire to serve the Lord. Please pray as he seeks the Lord as to how to best help in the area of housing for our kids.
Building a Team
Anwar and Katia are a couple who have started to help us. They are desiring to work at the children’s home and we would love to work with them.
* Pray that God would show them and us and the Directors of the Ancla Children’s homes if this is His plan.
Hoping for Rest
And finally… dear friends of ours have passed their timeshare in Puerta Vallarta off to us as they are unable to visit it this year. This opportunity came up before all the craziness of a house change was on our horizon. It seemed like a perfect idea at the time. So, during all our happenings we are going to take a one-week vacation. We feel like it is something we really need right now and are so thankful for the gift of this time away. If you see pictures of us chilling on the beach, please do not be too jealous. We will have lived in Mexico for 22 years and this will be the first time that we will have ever stayed in one of the big Mexican resort towns. Lord-willing, we will be gone May 13-20th.
*Pray that we can get the things done that we need to before we leave, hopefully even a house purchased, although most likely we will not be moved in yet. Even this one week away must be dealt with carefully with our kids, as they are so scared of losing us right now.
Once again, thank you for your many prayers. We see God at work, and we have loved our deep conversations with our kids over the last week.
God is so good!
Greg & Shelli.
