I won't let go.

Vince Lombardi was an American football coach, best known as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. Under his leadership, they won five NFL Championships in seven years. Vince Lombardi has several well-known quotes. One I like is: "Fatigue makes cowards of all of us."

It has been nine months since the beginning of the pandemic, with no visible end in sight. We are all living with the complications of long-term stress. Please remember, we do what we do to keep ourselves and others safe.

Families and friends do what they can to keep their families safe and emotionally well.

However, we also need to recognize the effects on ourselves and find ways to deal with stress.

How to respond to long term problems? The only real response is a reliance on God.

We can hold onto a positive attitude, connect with positive people, keep busy, and be distracted but, reliance on God will help us cope when all other resources fail.

Isaiah 41:13, "For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you."

Isaiah 40:10 & 11 "See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young."

Isaiah 40:28 to 31 "Do you not know?

Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint."

Let me share this poem, from an unknown author, titled: Don't Give up!

I want to let go, but I won't let go.

There are battles to fight,

By day and by night

For God and the right

and I'll never let go!

I want to let go, but I won't let go.

I'm sick, 'tis true,

And worried and blue

And worn out through and through

But I won't let go.

I want to let go, but I won't let go.

I will never yield.

What? Lie down in the field

And surrender my shield?

No, I'll never let go!

I want to let go, but I won't let go.

May this be my song,

Mid legions of wrong,

O God, keep me strong

So I'll never let go.

May God continue to encourage us and give us strength as we continue to rely on Him.
